People with guns tend to be lowest form of animal life on the earth, that have no mercy for babies or innocent adults. One person I used to know became a hero by helping kill 100,000 civilians fleeing an invasion of a city. The good thing is his house caught fire and he was heard by neighbours screaming while being roasted alive for his sins; he did not have to go to hell first.
We actually have an entire section on the site dedicated to the steps you need to take to cover your basic needs as dictated by the survival rule of three – food, water, and shelter (and breathable air). It covers all the survival skills and knowledge relevant to self sufficiency in these areas. If your goal is to go beyond being a prepper and you want to be a true survival expert, definitely check out that section of the site and read everything you’re able to.
Pack things that make you self-sufficient – if you are thinking about an item that you will need to pair with something that you are going to need to source on the way, forget it. If you are moving to safety, the last thing you want to do is worry about scavenging. Pack complementary and multi-purpose items that can be used both individually and together to save space.
This may sound like a strange thing to worry about but it may become the biggest mistake you make when a SHTF even really happens. If you don’t watch what you say and do, you could be planning to support 4 people and end up with 12 mouths to feed in an emergency. It would be better to know now that you have to plan for 12 (and hopefully get them on board to help themselves now) or keep the other 8 in the dark about what you’re doing. This is a good time to figure out what you’re going to do with your pets.
Ark is unlike many survival games in that you attain levels as you progress. As you level higher and higher, you gain access to more craftable items. Some are just more powerful versions of lower-tier items (such as leather armor vs. cloth armor), but most are brand new (such as firearms, scuba gear, and saddles for more powerful dinosaurs). This really drives you to explore more areas to find rarer resources and fight stronger dinosaurs. See More
Just today I contacted an old acquantaince whom I had been deployed (Army) with previously. I have a great homestead in the country, he has good security skills (I can’t defend my place by myself). We are going to plan on this being his (and his family’s) bug-out location, and I will be surviving in place, with help. So if your family has military, police, etc, type of connections, try those first.
So many worried about not being Christian like in prepping. My father is poor and prefers it, however if a disaster happened I would go to him lol. You will be surprised to learn how many poor and homeless are more prepared than most of us. That being said you can always start or join a co op, or start your own group that saves extra so when all our preppjng is finally needed we can help out others. Sadly it will be more like two movies…. the book of Eli and cant remember name but about the end of. Humanity after a comet strike or nun war. Sorry don’t remember name.
It wasn’t that long ago – only a few decades ago – when we were in a cold war with Russia and there was a very real possibility of a nuclear war. It isn’t that difficult to envision a new cold war with China in the coming decades, or an increase in tensions or even an all-out war with North Korea. Not to mention the dicey relationships that the USA and the west in general have with Iran, Russia, Pakistan, and a number of other countries – all of whom have or are developing a nuclear arsenal. That’s just talking about nuclear war. What about a conventional war, or terrorist attacks?
When making a survival plan, you should be thinking about the scenarios you want to be prepared for, and then apply the rule of three to these scenarios, and build your plan from there. People take breathable air for granted, which is why it so often goes ignored. But in the event of a nuclear or chemical attack, or a pandemic flu – who’s to say that the air is safe to breathe? In this kind of situation, you’d need a survival gas mask or something similar to survive.
