Ark has the "alpha" tribe meta going on, where a tribe will rule a server. They routinely wipe all other players' habitats and dinosaurs off of the server for fun, and they also roam to other servers (which Ark supports) and do the same there. They also use every exploit available in this Early Access, very unfinished game to ruin access to the game for anyone on the servers, such as pillaring / turreting critical resource-gathering spots, releasing extremely high-level tames onto the beaches to kill all new players, etc. Your best bet is a good, private unofficial server, but you'll have to do your own research to find one. Good luck! See More
In Conan Exiles you play as an exiled warrior, so it's no wonder that you know how to fight. You play in first-person and wield a large array of weapons in order to destroy your enemies. Combat often ends quickly, with decapitations, limbs flying everywhere, and blood spattered on the ground. You can even sacrifice your enemies to the gods in order to gain power if you want to. If you like brutality, Conan Exiles has it in spades. See More
It’s an impressive lineup – did we mention the 2 person tents? – that, like many of its competing bug out bags, is light on food. Although there’s plenty of room in the heavy duty nylon backpack for all the food you’ll need to survive several days in the wild. The company advertises their bag as being ‘discreet’, which is their way of saying others won’t recognize that it’s full of high quality survival gear and try to steal it from you. That may very well be but if Hurricane Harvey is bearing down on your location you have bigger things to worry about. The 2 person tent we mentioned is minimalist in nature but will provide welcome shelter if you can find a dry place to set it up and the waterproof backpack cover that comes with the bug out kit is a major plus this bug out bag has over some of the competition. The Stealth Tactical bug out bag costs a little more but it’s ready for whatever comes.
The second aspect of prepping (and some feel this is even more important than the first) is the acquisition of survival knowledge. Feeding your family becomes a lot easier if you know how to hunt or fish, or if you know how to grow or raise your own food. Getting your hands on drinking water is made more challenging if you don’t know how to find safe water in the wild, and if you don’t know how to turn unsafe water into drinkable water. Defending your family against wild animals or dangerous looters is safer if you know how to wield a firearm, have experience with primitive weapons, or know martial arts and self defense. Treating wounds and illnesses is more of a possibility if you can recognize medicinal plants in the wild and know what they can be used for. All of these skills were probably pretty commonplace two hundred years ago, but nowadays most people are woefully under prepared for any kind of true survival situation.
A very detailed and extensive list! But the only problem I have is all the electrical stuff. When we had survival training after qualifying, We were very limited in the tools they gave us, but we managed (basically eating everything we could). When hiking/camping for several days we always have the best experience without bringing any electrical gear.
The most important factor that will determine the right size bug out bag is your torso size. You can measure your torso by having a friend or casual acquaintance measure the distance from the top of your Iliac Crest (hip bones) up to the bony prominence at the base of your neck (the last cervical vertebrae). Knowing the length of your torso will help you choose a bug out bag that fits comfortably.
Jim BAs far as cheese goes. It is ok to pack away poredwed stuff. Light wieght and cheap. But not too healthy. If you really want to pack away cheese, do it the old fashion way. Buy wheels of hard cheese (the harder the longer it last) cover them with cheesewax, (you can easily do this at home) several coats. Hang the cheese in a net in a cool dry place. 20 years shelf life.
The Wise bug out bag comes equipped with most of the things you’ll need to keep yourself and your loved ones well fed and comfortable during a crisis although you’d do well to take the claim of 32 meals with a grain of salt, since they’re counting a 12 serving whey package as 12 meals. As such you’ll want to use some of the extra space in the bag for additional food which you can pick up at any store that sells mountaineering equipment. As for the rest of the items there’s a well-appointed first aid kit, 5 function emergency whistle, an LED flashlight, dust masks and even a deck of playing cards to keep everyone occupied during those long hours in the storm shelter. The nylon bag is water resistant though not waterproof so keep that in mind, but it’s comfortable and well made. If you’re looking for an affordable, well stocked bug out bag you’d be wise to have the Wise Food bug out bag ready and waiting in the closet.
The Bug Out vs. Bug In is something I wish I would have read about earlier in my prepping. I made the assumption getting out was the only option. The reality is though, I’m nearly 60 and disabled from Degenerative Joint Disease, therefore, Bugging Out is the last option I should choose. The list of potential factors to help you determine BO vs. BI are many and the list seems to grow daily. What size community is the line in the sand in determining it’s best to leave? What is the SHTF event(s)? And 100’s of other questions and potential scenarios that could play out.
You will be able to prep only at the basic level (to withstand about a week or so of unrest, Im speaking of civil unrest. Any type of chemical or nuclear attack and it is very unlikely you will not survive in an apt structure) You need two weeks of food and water–long term food storage items, not items from the local grocery store. You also should purchase a gun for each of you and take some shooting classes at the shooting range. Lastly, You need to stock up on any perscription medications you take on a regular basis, you can accomplish this by ‘losing’ a perscription every now and then and having the pharmacist replace it. You should have no less than 6 months of perscriptions even if you only have limited food and water–it can also be used to bargain with later. Best of luck to you.
A Bug Out Bag, also called a BOB, I.N.C.H Bag (I’m Never Coming Home Bag),Get Out of Dodge Bag (GOOD Bag), or 72 Hour Bag is usually designed to get you out of an emergency situation and allow you to survive self-contained for up to 3 days. A lot of people plan their Bug Out Bag to sustain them for much longer than that, but there is always a limit to what you can carry on your back and a 3 day target is a good place to start.
The setting is something very new and fresh and the atmosphere is amazing. The fear you experience when you are in an open area where you know there could be dangerous creatures alone shows how great the under water environment plays together with the atmosphere created by the developers. The survival aspects of the game were quite enjoyable, because they weren't too excessive, though I changed the settings a little so the need for nutrition was a bit less extreme, since it is not difficult to find food and water, so the default settings were a bit repetitive and annoying to me. It's very easy to change though, so don't let this hold you back from playing the game. See More
Disaster preparedness doesn't need to be complicated, but you’ll find that shopping and collecting gear for a DIY bug out bag can prove to be difficult. In many cases, the DIY approach may prove more expensive than necessary, leaving you with items you don’t really need—and shouldn’t waste your money on. Instead of forcing useless items into a bag that won’t hold up, opt for a pre-packed, top-rated bug out bag.
