You don’t need a huge space to store emergency supplies if you plan wisely. Use every inch of your storage space for efficiency and necessity. When buying emergency supplies, look for stackable items with minimal packaging or that serve multiple purposes (multi-function items are great because you get the benefits of multiple tools without using up all that storage space). For example, MREs don’t take as much space as individual ingredients. Buying freeze-dried food instead of ready-to-eat foods lets you store even more in a smaller area.
This was a great article but I have to say that as far as fire arms go I wouldn’t suggest a .22LR. Yes the ammunition is light and yes you can carry more but in a self defense situaton a .22 isn’t an ideal round. I would suggest if it’s a rifle your looking for go with a .556 NATO or .223 because they are still light weight rounds and they would be more beneficial they are great for defense and hunting larger game. As far as hand guns go a revolver is reliable but the rounds are heavy and most of them are quite bulky a 9mm Luger would be your best bet because they are reliable and the ammunition is one of the common and available round there is so even if you run out obtaining them won’t be that difficult. Plus most full size double stack mags carry around 10-17 rounds which means more rounds before you have to reload.
This con is a bit dependent on RNG. Your character might end up starting in the middle of the snowy mountains with no clothes or the desert with no water, making it hard to survive at the start. Other times the area could be resource poor, making it hard to build a base and tools and weapons. Or, you could end up spawning in an area filled with some of the hardest zombies in the game with no weapons and poor fighting stats. See More
sorry Paul…if you get a Lifesaver bottle, it does filter bacteria…in fact it filters everything. And its good for 1000s of litres. http://www.iconlifesaver.eu/ Theres lots in the article I agree with, and lots I don’t. Get an SAS style hammock with shelter for over top and at least be comfortable. An ultra light sleeping bag weights less that 12 ozs and is a whole lot more comfortable than an emergency blanket. There are so many LED lights out there that you can pack a small crank or solar rechargeable light. Fire might bring the baddies. Better to be safe and unseen than seen an unsafe.

Thanks for being concerned about others, we need more people in the nation like you. My response would be that, as Christians, our first and foremost concern is to live a life in right standing with Almighty God, and to live by faith, not be fear, EVERY DAY. Secondly, is live life daily by the virtue of God given wisdom. Scripture says that Wisdom is the principle thing, get Wisdom, and with all they getting, get Understanding. Compassion is a virtue of the Spirit, also now popular known as Agape Love. To Love God and thy Neighbor is to fulfill all the Law and the Prophets. This article makes perfect sense when the author says that a good place to START, is with your home and family. Your home is a natural place to start, and those in your immediate vicinity, your family are the most logical individuals to be concerned about first. When you have first things first squared away, then you can start thinking about your immediate neighbors, and possible form a neighborhood preparedness plan with them. Then you all can branch out to your greater neighborhood, and finally your community, and then set up networks with other near by communities in your state, just in case your community needs to evacuate faster than what FEMA can organize. I think by taking care of yourself first (not selfishly but with a definite end in view) you are better prepared to help others in a time of crisis.
(Edit: The game actually does have an endless mode with various different maps to chose from.) Frostpunk's main scenario only runs about 45 in-game days (6-12 hours). There is no sandbox mode where you can keep growing and building indefinitely, making it a rather limited simulation experience overall. This may be disappointing to those who would prefer to keep their city going as long as possible. See More
As we mentioned, first and foremost to being a Prepper is a mental attitude. That of “I am responsible for me”. If you are relying on the government or others to take care of you then you are a dependent of them, not an independent citizen capable of supporting themselves. And that is exactly what a Prepper is or strives to be – an Independent Citizen capable of supporting themselves. Through out the attitudes and beliefs that if something happens you’ll let others take care of you. In fact, through out the notion that nothing bad will ever happen to you – chances are extremely high that it will! Whether it’s a personal, family, neighborhood, city, state, national or world event – bad things happen every single day – dodging them all is pretty near impossible.
I just bought property and I built a home far from any city (its actually on its own Island in Alaska) I have my own river for fresh water, a greenhouse and gardens as well as renewable power (windmills, dam, and solar panels). plus being as I live in Alaska I have plenty of guns and ammo for hunting. I own a fishing boat as well so food will be abundant as long as I can use it. I am completely self sufficient out here. BUT, I need to known if there is a list of things that I should have. The food is stocked for two years or more, but I want livestock ideas as well as ideas of medical supplies ect. Please let me know if there is any such list.
I think you’re both correct, although you are addressing separate threat levels and emergencies (civil disobedience vs. natural disaster). I keep a basic bag, plus a small box with optionals that can be quickly loaded, depending on the threat. I realize this may take precious seconds, so this is time dependent. I live in the Chicago area, so civil unrest is a greater concern, and my firearms choice reflects this probable eventuality.
MOLLE organization systems are a great added feature for a BOB. MOLLE webbing is straps built into the outside of your pack that allows for additional gear and even other packs to be attached externally. If you have a sturdy pack with MOLLE webbing and carabiners, you can add a lot more gear on the outside of the pack that you otherwise might not have been able to pack inside your BOB.
The first thing to do to ensure that you have access to clean water is to stockpile it. An average person needs about a half gallon a day of drinking water, so for a family of four, you need 2 gallons of water a day. FEMA recommends that you store up to three days worth of water to deal with shortages and such, but as preppers, we’re planning for scenarios that go beyond the typical natural disasters you see. We recommend having a stockpile of at least 2 weeks worth of water, which means you should have about 28 gallons of water stored at any given time.
There are several different biomes in Conan Exiles. Barren wastelands, harsh deserts, sparkling rivers, and haunted forests are just a few of the ones you'll encounter, but you'll want to get out there and really explore the environment. Every biome holds different secrets to discover and, more importantly, different materials so you can craft new stuff, which is always satisfying. Exploring also lets you scout out enemies that you plan to attack, find new areas you want to settle, or even make new friends to cohabit the area with. You'll have to explore whether you want to or not, but Conan Exiles makes it very enjoyable by making sure it's a rewarding experience. See More
It’s an attitude of awareness about the fragility of stability (and of human life), and an understanding of the importance of being properly prepared, just in case society takes a turn for the worst. It’s about being willing to learn new skills that may not seem useful and important to your life right now, because they may prove to be life-saving in a different kind of life (and also because learning survival skills is fun).
Amazing, clever story not narrated to you. This game is based very much off of intelligence and requires a lot of patience (which is a good thing). The art style is incredibly unique and is nice to look at. The game feels like a 1930s animation almost, and it's very atmospheric. The music is fantastic as well - the music used paints pictures and does so gloriously. Don't Starve is a phenomenal game and I highly recommend it to you. See More
