There’s always going to be the debate of Bugging In v. Bugging Out, and that is really our job as readers and posters to decide which is best for us and determine the situations/scenarios we may be faced with. What degree of societal collapse do we need to see, before we get the heck out of town? Obviously, the more rural your location is, the higher the probability of staying in place will be. One’s health, general level of physical conditioning and age are all factors we need to consider. It’s easy to say “Get into shape,” but the reality is that may not be possible for some of us with long standing health problems. For those of us incapable of increasing our strength or endurance, Bugging Out may be our last option.
Don't Starve is a classic example of "Easy to play, tough to master". The game play is very easy to learn, in fact Don't Starve doesn't really tell you how to play, you just point and click. Some items will be clickable, exploration leads to discoveries, and discoveries lead to longer survival, but death and a new game are always right around the corner. See More

KarlAgree with gat3I. Besides oil, seems like all packaged foods reuriqe milk, butter, or eggs to prepare. Deyhydrated and evaporated milk, Butter Buds, and Deb El powered eggs are all available at local grocers around here. Or go the #10 can route. We freeze real butter (sticks) and Shed Spread, the butter lasts a year frozen anyway and I’ve ever seen bacteria show any interest in margarine at all. Canned spaghetti sauce is cheap to go with the pasta, and dehydrated parmesan cheese lasts a long time unopened. Personally, white enriched rice is mostly for the 5 gallon pails since it’s cheap and easy to store, but we also stock flavored rice (spanish, beef/chicken, cajun, etc) boxes which is what we typically use for meals. Zatarain’s makes the best flavored rice in our opinion, and unlike some cheap brands it’s packaged inside an airtight foil liner inside the box. Just some thoughts. Good luck.
For example, relatively near me recently there was a village evacuated from their homes for about a week due to a large damn above the village that was looking likely to burst as the damn wall started crumbling the torrential rain had the water at dangerous levels as it was. People who were home were given minutes to get their sh*t and leave while others were in work away from the danger zone and had zero chance to grab anything. For situations like these a mobile phone, charger, radio, batteries for headtorch etc are a completely rational and extremely likely to be heavily used while you get housed in a local community hall, leisure centre or school etc.
Regardless of your skill level, you will be able to find a difficulty level that suits you and satisfies your craving for a good challenge. This game features four different difficulty levels, making it accessible to a broad range of players. The easiest mode is Pilgrim and it offers a gaming experience suitable to all players where dying is a rare occurrence. For beginning players, Voyager is recommended as it gives you a forgivable way to learn the basics. After that, the difficulty takes a strong curve upwards into the remaining two modes: Stalker, and Interloper - with the latter being considered a very challenging gaming experience only recommended for expert gamers and those who desire a true video game survival challenge. All told I have a stockpile of food that will last a bit ove a year and a half for the wife and I. While on the subject of how long supplies last, be sure to look into the calorie count of your meals, not just the number of servings. I found that there is a wide range of values in this. For instance, very few packages for 3 months for two people contain sufficient calories to reall sustain two people for 3 months. Most only supply 700 – 800 calories when eating only one serving per person, per meal. That’s why I’ve supplemented with a lot of extra stuff to add to the basic mealy, such as fruit, rice, beans, wheat and flour for bread.
What I will do is recommend that you build your own First Aid Kit instead of buying one of those prepackaged first aid kits that claim to have 1001 things to get you through any emergency. While some are ok, in my experience these types of kits are usually filled with a lot of stuff you are unlikely to need and not enough of the things you will probably need a lot of.
Everything Ark does is rock-solid. The survival elements may be similar to what you’ve played before, but they’re the bedrock for the game’s more ambitious elements (and a strong Ark mods scene). Your character has RPG-like stats, and you can head into the world to hunt sci-fi secrets that offer a little more incentive to play rather than just ‘stay alive’.
